About the role
You will be the most senior engineer in the room. Edge is the product: a conversational AI that reasons about capital stacks, arbitrage, and deal structure in real time. You will own the architecture, the data model, the model interface, and the production reliability of that system. This is a founding-team seat with real influence over technical direction and hiring.
What you'll do
- Design and ship the full-stack architecture for the Edge strategist: API, data layer, and conversational client.
- Build retrieval, tool-calling, and evaluation pipelines that make the model's reasoning accurate and measurable.
- Set engineering standards for code review, testing, observability, and incident response as the team grows.
- Own latency, cost, and reliability from day one — the chat has to feel instant even when reasoning is complex.
- Partner with the founders and product to translate underwriting strategy into working software.
- Interview and mentor early engineers; help define the engineering culture.
What we're looking for
- 6+ years shipping production software, with at least 2 years as a senior engineer on a high-ownership team.
- Deep TypeScript or Python experience and a track record of owning services in production.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs: retrieval, embeddings, function calling, prompt evaluation, and streaming.
- Strong system design instincts and comfort making tradeoffs under uncertainty.
- Bias for action and the judgment to know when to ship versus when to refactor.
Nice to have
- Experience at an early-stage fintech, lending, or real estate technology company.
- Built or maintained a design system and component library.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and security best practices.
Compensation, equity & stock options
- Base salary range
- $160K – $250K
- Equity grant range

Final offers depend on experience and location. Ranges shown are what we actually pay — we don't post a range we won't honor.

- 130-minute intro call with the founder / hiring manager
- 260-minute system design and architecture conversation
- 3Paid take-home or live pairing session (your choice)
